Concept

Saipem S.p.A has awarded a contract to Corinth Pipeworks for the development of an offshore and onshore natural gas pipeline by Gastrade. The Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) will connect to the National Natural Gas Transmission System of Greece through a 28 km long pipeline. Hence, the gasified LNG will transmit to Northeastern Europe. Nonetheless, carrying the prospect of also supplying Ukraine.

The company’s pipeline proposal was evaluated as the most advantageous of its competitors. Thus, providing a both technically and economically feasible solution. The offer consists of 28 km of 30” SAWL steel pipes, which also include anti-corrosion coating and concrete weight coating. Note that, the fabrication and external coating process of the entire quantity of pipes will take place at the Company’s plant in Thisvi, Viotia, Greece. Therefore, scheduled deliveries will begin in 2023.
