The first fully-electric tug boat in the U.S.
The American company Crowley Maritime Corporation is expected to start the construction and management of the first fully-electric tug boat in the U.S.
According to Crowley, the tug boat under the name of eWolf will replace a conventional model which consumed 30,000 gallons of diesel fuel annually.
The eWolf is estimated to report on duty from the port of San Diego in the middle of 2023.
Referring to the first fully-electric tug boat in the U.S. as a «game-changer», Michael Zucchet, chairman of the San Diego Board of Port Commissioners, stated that the innovative craft will provide environmental, economical, and operational profits to the society and the shipping industry.
